Islands to Visit:
Myint
Khwar (Horse Shoe) Island
This teeming little island became its name from the Salone
Sea Gipsies because it is shaped like a footprint of a
horse.
The secluded lagoon is three quarters surrounded by steep
rocks and cliffs which makes this island a perfect mooring
spot all year round.
Lone
Khwet (Bird’s Nest cave) Island
Inside of this very rugged island you will find a large
cavern.
A group of locals has built some shelter on bamboo
scaffoldings on the far end of the cave. Swiftlet nests are
harvested for sale in the local market
Kyet
Mauk Island (The Blue Lagoon)
Here the sea kayaks are ideal for negotiating the small
rocky entrance to this hidden lagoon which is surrounded on
all sides by rugged rock formations.
Tharn Kyunn Nge (Pirate Island)
Here you can meet the local fruit farmers and explore the
lush jungle garden and the superb white sand beaches where
swimming and snorkeling is a must.
Zar
Det Kyee (South Bay)
South Bay forms an enormous natural harbor on the southern
tip of St. Matthew’s Island, one of the archipelago’s
biggest islands.
Kho Yinn Khwar (McLeod Island)
On this small and very beautiful island you can take a
stroll around the first resort hotel in the Mergui
Archipelago, the Myanmar Andaman Resort. Sample the sunset
cocktails and enjoy dinner overlooking the picturesque beach
surrounded by jungle covered hills.
Kyunn
Pyi Lar (Great Swinton Island)
We’ll moor up at Iguana Bay in the south-west of the Island.
Take the opportunity to walk off with a 20 minute stroll
breakfast through the jungle to the beach on the other side
of the Iguana Bay peninsular
Salet Galet Lagoon
This secluded lagoon between Lampi and Wa Ale Island is
ideal for a sea kayak excursion into the magnificent
mangrove river. There is also an opportunity to hike up the
350 meter high hill on the west peak of Lampi Island
Lampi
Island
Wander the length of the vast sandy beaches on the west side
of the island, or explore by dinghy or kayak the beautiful
mangrove river, leading into the centre of the second
largest island in the archipelago.
Bo Cho Island
Here you’ll be able to visit the biggest Sea Gipsy
settlement in the whole area. There you will experience
their traditional way of life and will have the opportunity
to purchase various treasures of the ocean and locally
crafted goods.
